Assalamualaikum Silent reader(s) ;-)

Starting from 29th of July, I am officially a Medical Student in UBD!
Alhamdulillah.. we've just started our 1 week orientation!
Although it was very tiring....... I enjoyed most of the events so far.
Honestly speaking, I can't wait to start learning new things again,
doing work, etc etc. Semester 1 will start on Monday (5th of August).
EEKKKS! :D

From what I've observed since day 1 of stepping into the Uni,
everything required us being independent, responsible and mature 
enough to make our own decisions. It is quite a big difference compared
to High school etc. 

To be honest, I haven't reached that stage..............yet.
Hopefully, during my 3-year stay in UBD, 
my confidence level will boost up ( I have a low-self esteem).
But I do believe, with baby steps, I'll manage. Inshaa Allah :)

Beautiful Patience.

As-sabru minal iman

Assalamualaikum Silent reader(s) ;-)

I would like to share with you guys one of my favourite surah from the Al-Quran :)
INFACT, this surah is on top of my list. Masha Allah, the hidden meanings behind this 
surah is beyond beautiful....

The surah that Im talking about is Surah Yusuf. :)
Before I went too far.. I want to make things clear that every surah in the Al- Quran is my fave,
but this particular surah hits me and it is the one and only surah that I actually understand so much,
which is why I made it as my personal favourite! Hehe :)

Anyways.... so.. A brief introduction about this surah..

Place of Revelation:
This is a Makki surah, although some say it has parts which were revealed in Madinah. However the majority of scholars say it is a Madani surah in its entirety.

Time of Revelation:

‘Aam al Huzn (the Year of Sadness), when the Quraysh polytheists had boycotted the Muslims entirely, and the two beloved ones of Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alayhi wasalam) passed away; Abu Talib, and Khadijah.

The word Yusuf (although not an Arabic name) matches with the Arabic word Asaf = Extreme sorrow (i.e. Ya Asafa! means ‘O sorrow!’ (to express how sad something is).)

I was listening to Fatih Seferagic's recitation of this surah, and I realised 1 thing,
he keeps on repeating "فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ" when reciting this ayah, at most 3 times. That somehow got me thinking about its meaning, in different prespectives.

وَجَاءُوا عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِ بِدَمٍ كَذِبٍ ۚ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا ۖ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ ۖ وَاللَّهُ الْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ

And they brought upon his shirt false blood. [Ya'qub] said, “Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe.”

[Surah Yusuf : 18]

فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ, roughly, Sabru means Patience & Jameel means Beautiful.
If we read between the lines.. Beautiful Patience means something like this:
1) to be content with adversity and to surrender to the will of Allah.
2) to be outwardly the same at the time of affliction as one was the day before it struck.
3) the person who is suffering from some afflictions should behave in such a way that nobody is able to distinguish him from others.

I have always asked myself, Am I patient enough? 
Can I even afford to stay calm after some calamity befalls me? 
To be honest, after analysing myself throughout 19 years of living, I don't think I am one of these people-- People who stay calm at the time of affliction.
Astaghfirullah.. 

However, we shouldn't give up. Never let anyone or anything get the best of you.
It will be hard, we will struggle for sure, But at least we tried to be better. ;)
Practice makes perfect! Make Dua'! ;)
Whenever you feel like losing patience, remember that Allah will never put us in hardships or trials that we couldn't cope with. :)
We just have to look on the brighter side.
Being patient is beautiful, and patient people are always beautiful.

May Allah increase our Imaan and our patience. Aamiin... :)
